When Is the 2025 Venice Film Festival?
The 2025 Venice Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday, August 27th. The opening ceremony is typically held in the Sala Grande within the Palazzo del Cinema. The festival closes on Saturday, September 6th with an elaborate closing ceremony where the winners are revealed.
Where Is the Venice Film Festival Held?
The Venice Film Festival is held in (you guessed it!) Venice, Italy, also known as Venezia. More specifically, films premiere at various venues on the Lido di Venezia. Located on a 7-mile barrier island in the Lagoon of Venice, this part of the city is known for its historic landmarks and lavish hotels that have hosted artists, writers, politicians, celebrities and royalty over the centuries. The City of Canals offers more than 400 bridges and miles of waterways for residents and visitors to explore. It also features a host of jaw-dropping landmarks from the Doge’s Palace to Piazza San Marco. These attractions make Venice a great place to explore between the various star-studded parties and premieres.
What’s the Lineup for the 2025 Venice Film Festival?
The Venice International Film Festival is hosted by La Biennale di Venezia. This organization manages the festival, maintains historical archives and hands out awards for achievements in art, dance, music and theater. La Biennale has yet to release its official lineup for the 2025 festival. However, the deadline to submit feature films closed on June 13th, so the selection committee should be announcing its picks soon. We’ll keep you updated when the official selections are announced, which should be some time around mid to late July.
