Taylor Swift May Perform her Songs at AMA After All–Hooray!!
Now that that’s settled. . . . It didn’t seem fair that Taylor Swift was denied permission to perform a medley of her old hits during the 2019 American Music Awards.
This is the same problem that started when the rights to her music were sold suddenly to a new company by her ex-agent.
Nobody wants to be on the end of the constant harassment sure to rain down on anyone who causes problems for America’s reigning pop diva. Anyone with even a nodding familiarity with Taylor’s work know that the Swiftie’s, her army of followers, won’t be having any of it.
Just as surely as the Perseids meteor shower occurs every August, the Swifties would immediately gang up on anybody who caused even the slightest inconvenience to their glossy, and their attacks would be sure and never-ending social bombshells meant to embarrass, cripple or just annoy those who caused the singer any discomfort.
So deep is their love, and so devoted they are to her.
Taylor Swift Song Sales
So, facing the social stigma and the rather draconian appearance of being a bully to the All American Girl, the music company capitulated and agreed to allow Ms. Swift the right to perform the songs at the AMA.
After all, she is being receiving the Entertainer of the Decade award, which is sure to bring attention to her early works and cause renewed interest in them, i.e., sales of CDs and downloads galore.
When word of the sale of her songs was first announced, Taylor was, and still is, incensed.
She could remain signed to the new company and earn the rights to her old CDs by recording new ones. She’d receive the rights to one with every new CD she recorded.
But she didn’t want anything to do with that agreement and decided to re-record her early albums for re-release, but she can’t do that until next fall.
That was the sticking point behind her not being able to play the songs live at the AMA. The company wanted to punish her since she wasn’t going to play their game.
Now, they’ve had to run off with their tail between their legs before the scorn of Taylor Nation and the Swifties landed on their heads like a ton of devoted bricks.
So, now, Taylor can put together the songlist she wants, and you can bet there will be some Easter eggs hidden throughout the songs she chooses, the medley she creates and the double and triple meanings she tosses out to her fan base, and they will find and devour every one.
