The Huntsman: Winter’s War Provides Backstory for Snow White
If you’ve seen the new trailer for the upcoming prequel to Snow White and the Huntsman entitledThe Huntsman: Winter’s War, you know there’s an abundance of action. The film is set several years before the first film, and stars Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron as Freya andRavenna, the wicked sisters at war. The trailer also reveals a few more plot lines that explain what is happening in this film and exactly why war has broken out.
Freya andRavennahaven’t always been fighting, nor has Freya always been an ice queen. It seems that the last timeRavennaasked her mirror who was the fairest of them all, the mirror told her that she was for now, but Freya was going to have a baby who would mature to be much more beautiful thanRavenna. The mirror also warnsRavennanot to harm the child because that would set loose a wrath in Freya that was far more powerful thanRavennacould stand–and the warning was true. Once Freya sees her dead child, her ice powers kick into high gear.
So, Freya leaves the castle and raises her young son to become her warrior huntsman. The story reveals what happened before the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) met Snow White and was forced to fightRavennaagain. The action and adventure are compounded when the Huntsman teams up with Sara (Jessica Chastain) to fight a battle between two sisters and try to bring an end to the power of the mirror, which seems far too great for one person to have.
The film is set for an April 22 debut nationwide, but if you’d like to attend the red-carpet national showcase inLos Angeles, where all the mirrors have been trained to lie, you’ll want to get your tickets from VIP Concierge for the affair taking place at Regency Village Theatre on April 11. Remember, your ticket to the screening also gets you into the star-studded after party, where you can mill about with all the stars of the show. That in itself is worth the price of admission.
WillRavennaremain the fairest of them all, or will the Huntsman break her grip? The answers are waiting for you at the world premiere, so don’t miss it or you’ll be as sad as a golfer who can’t find his balls.
